Students in the academy that choose the design pathway will partake in 1 or multiple art courses offered at LAHS. These course will help prepare students to bring artistic vision and aesthetic beauty to the projects they will be creating in their other Academy courses and capstone project.
The courses in the Design Pathway are:
Drawing I, II & III
In the drawing courses, students will learn the fundamentals of the Elements of Art and Principles of Design. Each course builds upon the skills previously learned while using a variety of drawing styles and mediums, including graphite, charcoal and oil pastels.
AP Studio Art
In AP Studio Art, students must have already completed at least one drawing course and will begin developing and building a personal art portfolio of their chosen styles and mediums. AP Studio Art is a course meant to hone in and refine one’s artistic style and technical skills as well as explore the conceptual side of their artwork.
